Heartburn is a burning agony beginning behind the breastbone and radiating upwards. The hydrochloric acid from the gut leaks into the esophagus and causes heartburn. Occasional heartburn due to rich food or other life-style causes is classified as mild or episodic. Heartburn occurring twice or more in a week is moderate or frequent. Everyday issues even with a correct diet and way of living is serious or prolonged. 5 to 15 p.c of heartburn sufferers suffer from chronic heartburn.
Chronic heartburn is caused by the lower esophagus sphincter muscle tone becoming feeble, or eroded by stomach acid, and the one-way valve isn’t able to seal the acid within the gut. It can also be caused by other things like motility problems, high stress, the liner of esophagus becoming sensitive, and repeated medication for other lingering conditions.
In some intense cases, the mere act of bending down will bring acid into the esophagus. If the prolonged condition prevails for long, it may lead to difficult conditions like difficulty in swallowing, coarseness of the throat, protracted laryngitis, respiratory Problems like asthma or pneumonia, severe cough, and others.

Dr. Jeffrey DeSarbo, a Board Certified psychiatrist on Long Island, N.Y., has created a new website for people with eating disorders, their friends and family and treatment providers who seek the latest research news and information about conditions such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge-eating disorder and body dysmorphic disorder. The website, called The Eating Disorder News Network (EDNN), is a unique and major undertaking as it uses video as the primary mode of information distribution.
The website, called The Eating Disorder News Network (EDNN), is a unique and major undertaking as it uses video as the primary mode of information distribution. “It’s like CNN meets YouTube for eating disorders,” describes Dr. DeSarbo. In medical specialty fields such as that found with eating disorder care, there is a significant amount of new research published every month. Some of these important studies are published in the one or two major professional journals, but the majority of the studies and reports are dispersed in numerous medical journals throughout the world. Because of this, nearly every treatment provider, not mention the public, never gets access to this information unless they attend the few national and international conferences held annually, and then they still only get a portion of what is being discovered.

Some girls are perfectly content with their bodies, but there are others who are never satisfied. There is much more to it than self-loathing; there are many reasons someone might be more likely to have an eating disorder.
A common factor in eating disorders is your gender. But even though more females than males experience this illness, there’s a disturbing increase in the number of young men who are inclined to be bulimic or anorexic. It’s not just a women’s problem anymore.
Age does matter: while eating disorders have been known to either occur or recur as late as middle age, the bulk of eating disorder sufferers are younger, in their teens or early twenties.
Another factor is having someone who is close to you who has an eating disorder. For instance, if a family member or a close friend suffers from an eating disorder, your risk rises. This is counter intuitive but has been shown by studies to be the case.

The eating disorder known as Bulimia Nervosa is something that quite a number of people suffer from today. There have been numerous studies of this eating disorder carried out but actually determining causes for bulimia is still proving somewhat difficult. In fact it is felt that several factors will contribute towards a person being like to suffer from this type of eating disorder. In this article we take a look at those factors which are contributing causes for bulimia today.
Cause 1 – We live a world today where more emphasis is placed on the way a person looks than the kind of person they are inside. This has led to many people especially young women being unsatisfied with their looks and will be constantly bombarded to obtain a look which is completely unrealistic for them to achieve.
Cause 2 – Many people who suffer from low self esteem are those who are more at risk of becoming bulimic. There are certain things that could have occurred in that person’s life which leads to them suffering from low self esteem, such as they were abused when younger, they aim to be a perfectionist or they suffer from depression.

Only the last few years have medical professionals actually begun to recognize that binge eating is another eating disorder. Yes we are all pretty familiar with anorexia and bulumia because of the noteriety they have gained because famous people are always admitting they suffered from them. But where as with bulimia once the food has been eaten the person will then try different ways of purging it from their body as soon as possible. However with binge eating rather than not eating enough or trying to expel it from their body a person will eat loads and so it is a completely different kind of eating disorder altogether.
Because this eating disorder is so different from the others we have mentioned many who suffer from this do not actually believe they have an eating disorder. Rather what they see is that this person has a choice of just what they do with their body and what they eat.
